This booklet was the result of a short project, initiated by the Adelaide City Council, which aimed to produce a picture of the identity and nature of the community living south of Gouger Street and west of Whitmore Square, a residential and partly light-industrial area of the city that for some time held its own character to be highly distinctive and self-supportive.
